Colorado Pledge to Diversity Legal Group

In 1993, twenty-three Denver law firms collaborated to create a plan to significantly increase the number of racially and ethnically diverse attorneys recruited, hired, and promoted by Colorado law firms. They signed the "Pledge to Racial and Ethnic Diversity in Colorado Law Firms" to evidence their commitment. The Pledge not only represents the commitment of the signatory firms, but also the commitment of many Colorado lawyers, who are acutely aware the legal profession has not achieved sufficient diversity and that the legal community must devote time and resources to make meaningful change.

Today, The Pledge Group’s major initiatives include:

  • A paid summer clerkship program for diverse first year/second year evening law students at the University of Colorado and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law
  • A Boot Camp for interns of the summer program
  • Two annual diversity receptions
  • Sponsoring Colorado diversity scholarships for students in partnership with CLI - for 2013, the Colorado Diversity Bar Exam Scholarships
